walking through Ubud today was nuts! it's jam packed with tourists and shops...much more intense than I'd imagined. shocking after spending a few days in Amed, with its one main road.

i walked about 7km around Ubud in the heat of the day without water. Just cause, you kno, inducing heat stroke is a pastime of mine. 

really I just felt defeated if i gave in to one of the taxi drivers constantly hollering at me because I couldn't find my hostel. i know how to navigate a map!

really the heat got to me and in my delirium I walked almost all the way to my hostel and then essentially turned around and walked all the way back.

but I got to see all of Ubud!

and it's ridiculous tourist shops.

i mean some of the largest, most unnecessary collections of random shit I've ever seen.

the second time around though I passed quite a beautiful procession of balinese people in the street.

I'm looking forward to finding the essence of the city underneath all of that.
