Amed, where even the snorkeling is laid back

Mt. Agung watches over the small beach town of Amed.
though I initially did not know what to make of it, it has taken two days for me to fall in love with Amed.

A local's dog and some free-roaming chickens chill on the beach.

Though the city heavily relies on tourism, it has been able to maintain its local essence.

The animals, children, and people of the town still swim, boat, and fly kites as if there were no tourists present. There are no sectioned off private beaches or ritzy resorts to interrupt the cohesiveness of this quiet town.
